Project BLACC is a workforce development sector of C5 (Concerned Citizens of Charles City County). We are committed to and invested in Charles City County Virginia and its residents. C5 sponsors many outreach activities, community awareness programs, community gardens, and just plain fun activities for us to celebrate Charles City County! See below some of our recent activities!
C5 has an annual car show for the community to display award winning cars. This also allows the community to meet local venders and have fun with good food, music, and all types of cars, trucks, motorcycles, and EV vehicles!
The Car Show allows us to present our findings for our current environmental studies that we are managing for the community.
1st Annual Sho & Shine with the local car club DC Hot Rd Club was a huge success. We had over 80 cars, trucks, and motorcycles. 300 people attending the event and asked that we make it an annual event.
Each Month Project BLACC takes water samples from Herring Creek to monitor the water quality of this local creek. Our partnership with the Alliance of the Chesapeake Bay helps us to test for PH levels, turbidity, and dissolved oxygen.
Our water testing involves precise testing practices and many of our participants are volunteers who want to support their community. Together we can cover so many things!
Weatherization Project
This weatherization project involved partnering with CHP, Sierra Club, and C5 to diagnose a local home on its current weatherization status. This project is an annual event and allows C5 to educate our community on the importance of weatherization and electrification for residential homes.
